Enduring Hearts’ Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Committee approved the appointment of Kurt R. Schumacher, M.D. to its Scientific Advisory Committee, at the Enduring Hearts Quarterly Board of Directors Meeting. Dr. Schumacher is a Pediatric Cardiologist at the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Dr. Schumacher completed pediatric cardiology fellowship training at the University of Michigan. He has additional formal training in pediatric heart failure and transplantation as well as pediatric cardiac critical care. He earned a master’s degree in clinical research design and biostatistics in April 2013. He is active in the fellowship training program as a clinical instructor and as the director of journal club. He is a member of the Pediatric Heart Transplant Study group and received their young investigator award in 2011.
Dr. Schumacher’s current research covers a range of issues in pediatric heart transplant, heart failure in palliated congenital heart disease, short-term cardiac critical care outcomes. Additionally, Dr. Schumacher has an interest in patient-directed research, particularly using social media and emerging communication technologies.
